Jai Alexander

 

Jai is a contemporary dancer based in Houston, TX. He started his dance journey at the age of 16 with Latin Dance Styles, he then practiced Drill Team Styles in High School and later joined The Cougar Dolls Dance Team at The University of Houston. In 2015, he began sharing his choreography with the world through teaching. Since then he has taught all throughout Houston at different schools and studios. After achieving an Associate of Arts in Dance he now continues his studies at Lamar University where he strives to amplify his style, technique, knowledge and understanding of dance.

BRITTANY GONZALES

Brittany Gonzales, originally from Houston TX, is currently working towards her Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Theatre and Dance at Lamar University. Brittany is currently the President and a founding member of The National Dance Honor Society, Chi Tau Epsilon at Lamar University as well as a member of the Lamar University Dance Team. As a third year Dance Emphasis, she has been a part of student choreography works and faculty works in her department. Brittany is also a current member of Aimed Dance, a nonprofit performing arts organization led by founder and artistic director Amy Elizabeth.

She originally started dancing as a part of her High School Dance/Drill team. In 2019 she had the privilege to be an All-state dancer as the captain of her team and attended TDEA dance convention in Houston Texas, and in January 2022 she was chosen to attend the convention as a Collegiate Intern where she was able to represent her college dance department. Brittany was also recognized for her outstanding leadership that guided her team to victory in a web article written by “The Venture''.

Brittany has performed dance repertoire from choreographers such as Elisabetta Minutoli, Laura Harrell, Jesus Acosta, Kiera Amison, Jessie Ferguson, and Morgan Sandlin. She has had the opportunity to perform at Venues such as Barnstorm Dance Fest presented by Dance Source Houston, and Artist for Hope presented by San Jacinto College in Houston Texas.

BRIEANNA REED

Brieanna Reed is a Senior at Lamar University. She will be graduating this spring with a Bachelor of Science degree in Theatre and Dance with a dance emphasis. During her time at Lamar, she has had the opportunity to develop her dance technique through her professors' instructions and continue to get closer to her goal of joining a company. After graduation, she plans to audition and be in a Christian company.

AARON MCCLENDON

Aaron McClendon is a dance creative, performer, and student. A SETX native, Aaron returned to the area to begin his formal training in dance performance and choreography with Lamar University’s Department of Theatre and Dance at 21 years old. Working under choreographers Amy Elizabeth, Kelli Barclay, Sean A. Carmon, Havord Trusty, Lucy Arrington, Golden Wright, and Taylor Rainbolt, he has had the privilege of performing with Aimed Dance and at Bailando International Dance Festival, Tainan University of Technology, and Lamar University.  As a member of the 2021 Aimed Dance Apprentice Company, Aaron is enthusiastic about working with other SETX artists to build community awareness of the impact the fine arts have on personal, economic, and cultural success.

KATIE MEDICIS

Katie Medicis is a junior at Lamar University majoring in dance and minoring in ASL. Since her time at Lamar, she has performed in two LUTD shows and was a member fo the Lamar University Dance Team for two years. She is originally from Lake Charles, LA where she trained at Cathy Kurth Dance Academy for thirteen years. She danced competitively with her studio's dance team for six years and was given many opportunities to learn from world-renowned choreographers. Competing and growing up in dance conventions lead to numerous convention scholarships that allowed her to travel as far as Seattle and New York to soak up even more knowledge of dance. As she's still continuing dance education herself, she is now passing on her years of training and knowledge as a teacher at City Dance Center in Beaumont, TX.
