RISK (Postcard)-page-001

RISK: A Life Game is a new work by artistic director, Amy Elizabeth, that pushes the boundaries of what dance is and how it can be used to create an environment and tell a story. The evening will feature five performers in a game show scenario competing to be the ultimate winner. The goal of this creative project is to identify and establish a relationship with risk, to see the spectrum of its intensity on our daily lives and decisions and then attempt to answer the question how does risk play a role in your life and work? “The process itself becomes a risk with the limited time allotted and whether we can work through each of the questions the work presents as it unfolds in the studio,” Elizabeth adds.

Summer Fest 22 presented 33 works created by 27 choreographers and performed by 39 dancers in only three weekends as a part of the Aimed Dance Summer Concert Series. During the two weeks intensive style classes we offered 38 classes taught by 21 regional, national, and international dance educators in over 17 styles and genres. Summer Fest is truly a celebration of dance as so many artists ranging from age 9 to 55 come together to practice and perform the art of dance in an inclusive environment for all.

Homecoming: Aimed Unplugged is an evening of dance that welcomes the audience into the creative home space of artistic director, Amy Elizabeth. The evening will feature six works spanning over 30 years of memories and moments reflecting on the ebbs and flows of relationships from a single perspective.

Porcelain, reflecting a child’s unbridled imagination, illustrates dolls waking at night while the owner sleeps. “It gives an unsettling, almost dark tone to a toy that should bring life and adventure to a young person,” says Aaron McClendon – second season company member. Haley White Mosley, a third season company member, sheds the past to find hope for the future in the captivating solo, Desquamation. Marsha, Marsha, Marsha... Amy Elizabeth shares a look into growing up the 3rd out of 4 siblings in a cheeky quartet full of playful and annoying antics while Grand Ole takes us to the Honkey Tonks of Texas.
