I am Jayda Winters, I have been apart of the Lamar University Theater and Dance Department for three years now. I am a Dance Teacher of many styles at Marsha Woody Academy of Dance and currently, I am on the Lamar University Dance for my third year. I am an aspiring performer and choreographer that wants to educate those younger than me and be a role model to them as well. I also strive to encourage others to dance from not only their body but from their heart because it is a way to express various emotions.

BRITTANY GONZALES

Brittany Gonzales, originally from Houston TX, is currently working towards her Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Theatre and Dance at Lamar University. Brittany started dancing as a part of her High School Dance/Drill team. Throughout her four years on the Drill team she performed at many different High School events and showcased her ability to adapt to different styles of dance. For her Junior and Senior year, Brittany was named the Captain of her team. Earning this position increased her experience with creating and teaching choreography. In 2019 she had the privilege to be a TDEA All-State Dancer and in 2022 she was chosen to attend the convention yet again but as a Collegiate Intern where she was able to represent her college dance department. Since joining Lamar University’s Theatre and Dance Department, Brittany is currently the Vice-President and one of the founders of The National Dance Honor Society, Chi Tau Epsilon here at Lamar University. As a second year Dance Emphasis, she has been a part of faculty works by Professor Amy Elizabeth and Lou Arrington. Just recently Brittany was selected to be a member of the Aimed Dance Apprentice Company. Overall, Brittany has enjoyed expanding her knowledge of movement and looks forward to learning and experiencing it even more.

My name is Cathleen Johnsen, I am 17 years old and a junior at West Brook High School. I have been dancing at Bonnie Cokinos School of Dance for 15 years and have also been a part of the Beaumont Ballet Theatre Company for 7. In that time I have attended multiple conventions such as Regional Dance America(RDA) at the regional and national level and have competed in Dance Masters of America(DMA). I have also danced numerous solos in my company’s production of Cinderella, and have the honor of performing as Cinderella this year. I also have begun furthering my experience by teaching various levels of classes at my studio and choreographing dances in my free time. Outside of dance I am a part of many organizations including West Brook Stars, were I serve as Junior Lieutenant Officer, NHS, Student Council, St. Marks Church, and Stand Up to Cancer. Dancing has been the most consistent thing in my life and has always been at the top of my priorities. I hope to continue my dance education throughout college and become a choreographer.

Sarah E Vickery, a Huntsville, Texas based artist, is an MFA dance graduate candidate at Sam Houston State University. She has earned her Bachelor of Science in theatre and dance with an emphasis in dance from Lamar University as well as her Associates degree in art from Tarrant County College. She has performed with Aimed Dance Company, Gable Productions, Sam Houston State University, Lamar University, Tarrant County College Ensemble, Fusion Dance Company, Rhapsody Movement Company, and Vanilla Ice. Sarah has presented work in Aimed Dance Company, The Wynne Home Arts Center, Sam Houston State University, Lamar University, Mind the Gap 14.0, Bailando Dance Festival, and Tarrant County College.

LAURA WOLFE

Laura Wolfe is 17 years old and has been dancing for 14+ years. Her preferred styles are contemporary and jazz, but has been trained in many forms such as, ballet, hiphop, tap, modern, and lyrical.

My name is Jasmine Warner I am a junior at Lamar university I have be dancing for 14 years. I started training under Aldine dance company and red door production. Going into to high school I did drill team for four years. My junior year I was awarded the Alvin Ailey dance scholarship and trained with the company teacher and met the head director over the theater. I became at dance major at Lamar university in spring 2021 to further my education of dance. Lastly I am a two year member on Lamar university dance team.
